A guided tour of the Basilica of Santo Stefano and of the homonymous square, dominated by the magnificent presence of the monumental complex of the Seven Churches, the oldest religious building in the city: their name is due to the series of small chapels that compose it, designed to recall the scenarios of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.. Inside there are remains from the Roman, Byzantine and Lombard periods. The most striking attraction is to visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
This part of the complex seems to have been erected over an ancient temple of Isis and dates back to the 5th century. Piazza Santo Stefano is one of the most evocative of the city. Some sides of the square are occupied by a series of small buildings, joined together, with the final effect of style and harmony.
The entrance to Corte Isolani also overlooks the square, connecting Piazza Santo Stefano with Strada Maggiore. An architectural and artistic jewel in the historic center where you can discover the secrets that lie within the arches of this imposing palace. Corte Isolani is one of the most interesting examples of architectural redevelopment and conversion of historic buildings in Italy, a few steps from the Two Towers and Piazza Maggiore overlooking Piazza Santo Stefano (or the Seven Churches) and Strada Maggiore. To finish your tour, a fabulous tasting of typical Bolognese food.
